Press Release - Take The Stage! Pianoland’s Grand Opening at Westgate Singapore

15th May 2024, SINGAPORE – Pianoland, a destination for all piano players, is thrilled to announce the grand opening of its second outlet at Westgate on the 24th of May 2024, with a week-long of music and culture to celebrate the occasion starting from 20th of May 2024 at the Level 2 Atrium of Westgate. Owned and operated by the esteemed C. Melchers Group, Pianoland is set to revolutionise the music retail landscape by making affordable and quality pianos more accessible to the vibrant heartlands of Singapore. This decision underscores Pianoland's commitment to fostering a vibrant musical community and promoting the transformative power of music. With Jurong emerging as a key focus area highlighted by the government for its economic potential, especially in the advance technological sector, Pianoland recognises the importance of flourishing the music, arts and cultural in the heartlands, especially in the West.

 

Residents in the area can expect an immersive and welcoming experience, meticulously designed to provide a harmonious blend of elegance and excitement.


The Grand Opening event taking place at 11,00 AM on the 24th of May will be graced by Guest-of-Honour, Mr Patrick Tay, Member of Parliament for Pioneer SMC, as well as distinguished guests from various institutions, united by the common vision of the important roles that music, arts and culture play on the social development of Singaporeans. Notable guests include:

From 20th to 26th May, ‘Westies’ and shoppers will be treated to a kaleidoscope of performances held at Westgate, Level 2 Atrium. Entitled ‘Take The Stage’, the festival will showcase an impressive lineup of talents nurtured within Singapore’s vibrant cultural tapestry. From Lunchtime Jazz jams featuring artists like Michelle Poh and Namie & Ann Gie, to Mandopop Hits sessions with Chi Sheng & Aaron, and the Rising Stars Series highlighting promising talents from renowned institutions such as Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, LASALLE College of the Arts, students of Steinway Artist, Benjamin Loh, Steinway Educational Partners Ouyang Leilei, Winnie Tay, Michelle Francisca and the Quatre Music Organisation.

 

The festivities will also include known stars such as a unique collaboration between Young Steinway Artist Jessie M. and Cathay busker Jeff Ng whose unique arrangement will provide a delightful blend of classical and Mandopop music, Likie Low a rising Singaporean composer, producer and songwriter who will astound listeners with her blend of Electronic Dance Music and traditional Erhu in accompaniment with Singaporean 12-year-old pianist Newman Tong, a wondrous performance by Kathrine Hibbs, a Swiss American and French 10-year-old piano prodigy and lastly we have Czarina Oswald Lim a talented young vocalist who made her debut as 'Young Elsa' in the Broadway production of Frozen The Musical in Singapore and since then has gathered many other accolades to her name.

 

These performances by the multitude of burgeoning talents reflect Singapore’s music scene, serving as inspirations for nurturing a vibrant cultural identity in a nation known for its harmonious blend of races and cultures.

 

Alongside these festivities, Pianoland's Westgate showroom is also presenting an enriching experience with three carefully curated music workshops: 'A Musical Playdate with The Music Connection,' 'The Multi-Intelligence Approach to Music Learning,' and 'The Everything Guide to Starting Piano Lessons.' These workshops, tailored for children, serve as catalysts for nurturing our very own homegrown talent, delving into music's profound significance and empowering these young individuals to explore their heritage through music. Symbolizing Pianoland's commitment to cultural enrichment, this event marks the establishment of a vibrant cultural hub where attendees can gather to celebrate the diverse tapestry of music and arts, building and enriching a sense of community in the West. 

 

The week-long Pianoland ‘Take The Stage’ festivities not only celebrates the grand opening of Pianoland’s state-of-the-art showroom at Westgate, but aims to also foster the appreciation of arts, culture, and music in the heartland, in tandem with the development of Jurong to an innovation and high-tech district.

Each instrument is meticulously crafted with the aims to enhance the joy one experiences when playing the piano.
